Ever wonder about the days when you wake up in the morning with the knowledge that today is going to be one of “those” days. The kind of day when you will race to the bus stop and the driver will shut the door right on your face and take off. The kind of day you will reach work by 8:55 and the elevator will freeze between the 9th and 10th floor. The kind of day when your boss will offer your buddy Matt the extra ticket he has for the Man U game. You know…those days, that we all seem to have all too often.
However irrational it might be, our subconscious dishes out the verdict, and we oblige like meek followers. Almost simultaneously, our energy seems to drain out and a looming sense of doom seems to envelop us; that too by 7.30 am! We take it as a given based on that one feeling that a dismal day awaits us, and sure enough the prophecy gets fulfilled. But what we fail to observe is, had we taken a more constructive approach from the start, the ending may have been quite different. Research seems to show that what we invite upon ourselves, let it be misery or joy, has a lot to do with the kind of energy we send out to the outside world. As Rhonda Byrne elaborates in her 2006 best selling book The Secret, we are not quite as helpless as we perceive ourselves to be.
The universe merely responds to the vibrations we send out to it and does so accordingly. As the saying goes, you can not shake hands with a closed fist. Neither can you expect for miracles to drop in your lap while blocking it with your personal black cloud of gloom.
