Bumblebees belong to one of the groups of insects that are involved in pollinating plants involved in producing human food. These insects are part of the order Hymenoptera, which includes bumblebees, honeybees, and orchard mason bees. In recent years bee populations have declined 80% worldwide and for many, this decline equates to reduced food and in turn the decline of humanity.

But individuals can make a difference by following a few basic rules when it comes to the environment.

Avoid GMOs

These are genetically modified organisms that are bred to be more resistant to chemicals or pests. Their genetic design allows for more pesticide use at higher amounts. This increases the pesticide exposure the bumblebee has to deal with in the environment.
